Dr. Greiner provides leadership for livestock improvement and performance
evaluation educational programs to enhance the efficiency and profitability
of beef cattle and sheep. Specific responsibilities include the design and
delivery of educational programs related to beef cattle genetics, animal identification,
and retained ownership, as well as sheep production and management.
He provides leadership to statewide breed improvement programs in beef cattle and sheep.
Greiner's research interests include use of ultrasound as genetic improvement tool
for carcass merit, and evaluation of hair breeds of sheep in low-input,
forage-based production systems. He serves as educational advisor to the
Virginia Beef Cattle Improvement Association and Virginia Sheep Producers Association.
