Dr. Ruszler is responsible for the development, dissemination and demonstration
of advanced management and husbandry methods for both started pullets and
commercial egg layers. His program endeavors to increase the efficiency
and profitability of both egg production and egg marketing and utilization
in Virginia while working cooperatively with adjacent states. Graduate
and undergraduate student training responsibilities include 1) teaching
the commercial egg section of the Poultry Management course; 2) applied
research in poultry management to include lighting, molting, pullet rearing,
layer management, layer and pullet nutrition, declawing and beak trimming
techniques.
