Dr. Wong's principal responsibilities are to teach and conduct
research in the application of molecular biology techniques to the
improvement of farm animals. Research projects in the laboratory
involve proteomics of the pituitary and the intestine, as well as
analysis of the regulatory mechanisms of the expression of genes encoding
intestinal transporters and pituitary hormones. In particular, his laboratory
is focused on the avian species. He is interested in determining
the molecular mechanisms which control expression of these genes and
ultimately utilizing this knowledge to alter growth or reproductive
traits of farm animals.
