The Master Cattleman Program is intended to provide beef producers with essential knowledge in the areas of economics, nutrition, forages, reproduction, genetics, herd health, and marketing. Participants attend seven, two-hour sessions in the basic course. The program is offered on an area basis by local Virginia Cooperative Extension agents and is taught by local agents and Virginia Tech specialists. The cost of the course is $50 per person. Those who complete the course receive a notebook, farm sign, certificate, and cap. To date, more than 200 people have completed the basic course.
